I love Gmail! I’ve been using it exclusively now for almost a year. No Mail.app, No entourage. I am forced to deal with Outlook at work but I endure.

I’m also a big fan of keyboard shortcuts and like most other geeks who love Gmail. I love its “Pine” like use of keyboard shortcuts. But one thing that I cannot understand is why in all that is good and green on this earth can I not “label” or “tag” a message from my inbox by pressing the T or L key?! Why Google.. why? It can be done in the most excellent Google Reader so why not in Gmail?

An for you Life Hacker wonks, please don’t tell me there is a  GreaseMonkey script. I’m not a fan I want native functionality that does not require me to make a weekend Maker fair project out of it.
